I installed Skype on my Win7 laptop the other day, and ended up with version 8. Seems like I'm not the only one who really dislikes the new interface, and I'm looking for somewhere to download an installer for version 7. However, all the ones I've tried so far haven't worked. Most have installed, but when I try to sign in, I get a message saying Skype can't connect, which previous experience tells me means I have an incompatible version.
I know it can connect, as it can check my ID. Anyone able to tell me where I can get a download for version 7 that will work with Windows 7 Pro bit? Was this reply helpful? Yes No.

I had a HDD die on me this weekend, so I had to do a full windows install. When I went to get skype it was trying to force me into that horrible Windows 10 metro app. Finally got the version 8 desktop installer from the website, but it to I was finally able to find a full download of the Skype classic I kept seeing talked about, but removed from the Skype download page.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has disabled Skype 7 and users cannot use it anymore on any operating systems. To continue using Skype you should update it to Skype 8 or use Skype for Web.
